It’s been a while.
It’s been a minute. No shit huh. Well, what can I say? I know what I want means regularity, but what can I do when I hate everything that comes out? If I continue using the things I create as a guide by which to measure myself, I only need a small fucking ruler. There are times when I’m greatly disappointed by my limited development and have this desire to quit every time I raise my pen to draw something.

Then again I remember things that encourage me to keep digging. I look towards others for inspiration, often it’s tattoos. I have a memory from when I was a kid, this old, roughed up Vietnam vet sitting at the doctors. He had long hair and a unkempt beard, I think overalls, but it was this tattoo that makes me remember him. He had this eagle and a banner. I was fascinated with this tattoo and decided right then that I wanted to be a person that makes tattoos. Now it’s a number of years later, I’ve got a career that seems to be going in an interesting, non-tattoo related direction and I still feel the need to create.

So I look to others for inspiration it varies greatly from an awesome shot in a movie, to music, music videos, photos or other artists. Of course I run straight to tattoo artists for my burst of inspiration.

I continue to be enthralled by the tattoos, art and photography of Jun Cha who has jumped pretty high on my list of People I Want To Be Tattooed By If I Live in California.

The tattoo and art work of Dusty Neal make me reconsider living above the Mason-Dixon

Don’t forget my tattooer, Vincent

Of course I’m inspired by more “traditional” artists like the collective bloggers at Muddy Colors or Sam Weber

And MUSIC!

Essentially, I just have to keep pushing forward. The only way to progress is to work and I have to keep working.
